WOMAN-IDENTIFYING

STAND-UP COMEDIANS WANTED

OTTAWA AREA

FOR PAINTED PORTRAIT SERIES

  • Honourarium available

  • Professional print included

  • Invitation to show opening (2027-2028)

What is this project about?

This project is about documenting and amplifying self-identifying women as part of the Canadian comedy culture. All cultural backgrounds welcome. Preference to those who demonstrate tolerance, acceptance and/or a genuine attempt at understanding (demonstrating Canadian values)

What will my portrait look like?

Honestly, I don’t know. And I won’t know until I see your set and we meet to plan it together. The dimensions are most likely 18” x 24” but could be larger. Inspiration comes from your set, your personality, your aesthetic, your goals, your ideas, pop culture, historical references, everyday life, Canadiana, local locations, narratives, art, etc. It could be a simple, straightforward portrait, or you could be on fire.

See the gallery below for some starting points :)

What happens to the portrait and the photos?

The photos are solely for painting reference and won’t be made available.

The portrait will be available for sale at the first and subsequent showings. All proceeds from the sale remain with the painter unless otherwise decided (charity fundraiser/ donation, etc.).

Prints and merchandise (stickers, etc) may be made, distributed, and sold of the portrait by the painter. The participant (and their heirs) relinquish the right to compensation from these endeavours.

A signed model release will be required from the participant.

The participant will receive an honourarium, a professional print and an invitation to all showings in the area.

Why a painted portrait?

Although I have experience in professional photography, I chose to create the final piece as an acrylic painting because it has a timeless, historical quality. I also love painting and am currently a Bachelor of Fine Arts student at uOttawa.

This project aims to aid in the representation of Canadian voices for future historical reference.
